About

The Greater Stamford Area Trust (GSAT) is the operating body of Headwaters Trails.  The mission of GSAT is, “To be concerned with enhancing the quality of life for residents of the Stamford area and improving the economic climate of the community and its environs by combating community deterioration and juvenile delinquency and encouraging economic growth.”

GSAT is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that was formed in 1980 and has a long history of providing support to worthy community projects.  We are happy to accept donations on behalf of the Headwaters Trails project.

Goals of the Headwaters Trails project include encouraging education and recreational use of the Catskills that is ecologically sensitive and promoting the natural beauty of the region.  Located within the West-of-Hudson NYC Watershed, we also take seriously the need to conserve natural resources and encourage environmentally sensitive economic development.  We recognize that the quality of the drinking water of nine million people depends on what we do here.
We have the permission of many landowners to make this project possible – without their cooperation, we would not be able to offer the best of the Catskills scenery that we are privileged to see every day.
Thanks goes out to our many partners and stakeholders.  This list is continually growing.  Major support for this effort has come from the following:
GSAT / Headwaters Trails is a huge volunteer endeavor. A  Board of Directors, comprised of dedicated local citizens, creates policy and strategic planning for the trails, as well as day-to-day operations.
